PubMed Classes Summer 2010
This summer we have two kinds of PubMed class offerings. The first one is an in class experience in Los Angeles; the other is via distance learning.

PubMed Rediscovered: Hidden Treasures in Searching

This class will cover an overview of recent changes to PubMed, hidden treasures and strategies for searching in PubMed. This four hour class is geared for intermediate and advanced PubMed searchers.

The distance learning class, Making PubMed Work for You ONLINE Workshop started in early July. This online class is mainly for beginners to PubMed and for library assistants and technicians who would like to learn more about searching PubMed. It is based on an in person class, but it is taught through a course management system, Moodle. There are no required online meetings. Each week there is about an hour or so worth of work to complete. Participants will participate in discussions, run searches, and view PowerPoint presentations, videos and websites at their convenience. When they have completed all the assignments, and have submitted the evaluation, they will be awarded MLA Continuing Education credits.
The course itself can be completed over 3-4 weeks. Attendees will cycle through in three week sessions. So far the response is quite remarkable! We have two groups set up! We have another registration date of August 15th for a third group. You can still register at:
