NN/LM PSR Transitions
We continue to see many personnel changes at libraries within the region and this year that includes the RML as well. Heidi Sandstrom will be departing UCLA at the end of June but is leaving the NN/LM PSR program in the very capable hands of Julie Kwan. Effective March 1, Julie assumed responsibilities as Acting Associate Director of the NN/LM Pacific Southwest Region.
Heidi’s commitment and contributions to the regional medical library program have been outstanding throughout her fourteen years with the NN/LM. Her willingness to step up to progressively more responsible positions led her from student assistant to Network Coordinator followed by Coordinator for Health Information Services and finally Associate Director. It’s unusual for one person to have taken on so many roles within an organization but Heidi is a remarkable individual.
Heidi will be working on a number of projects during her remaining time in the RML, in particular a variety of Emergency Preparedness and Response activities. Julie will continue to provide training and answer questions about DOCLINE and LinkOut. I am confident that Julie will provide the strategic direction, commitment and passion necessary to lead the NN/LM PSR program for the remainder of this contract and into the next.
MLA attendees will have an opportunity to bid farewell in person as Heidi will be attending the annual meeting in Washington DC. Please join me in wishing Heidi well in new endeavors and activities!
