PubMed® Redesign is Here!
The changes to PubMed have been a long time coming! We saw some highlights at MLA 2009 in Honolulu. In August we saw short presentations of mock-up pages of what the new PubMed would look like. This week the preview link was leaked on Twitter, various blogs and Facebook pages, and now has been officially released. The preview version of the redesigned PubMed is available on the PubMed homepage at http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/sites/entrez/.

At this time, we do not know how long the preview version will be available before the old PubMed goes away. I would guess that NCBI has some testing to do to make sure everything is stable. Here’s what the new page looks like:

Technical Bulletin Articles
Here are two Technical Bulletin articles that discuss the redesign of PubMed and include screenshots:

Webcasts
A third Technical Bulletin article announces on a series of webcasts:

Trifold Handouts
Accompanying the PubMed redesign, Regional Network Staff in the Greater Midwest and Pacific Southwest Regions have revised and updated the various PubMed search brochures reflecting the latest changes to PubMed. The brochures are available in both PDF and Word formats from the NN/LM PSR Print Handouts web page, http://nnlm.gov/psr/training/handouts.html.
Many of you have sent comments to us. We are analyzing those comments and organizing a response to send to NLM. You can also send comments to NLM directly using the link to a feedback box that is located on the top right side of the screen next to Help.

Yes! NLM has put the recording up on their Distance Education Program Resources page at http://www.nlm.nih.gov/bsd/dist_edu.html. We have linked this from the NN/LM PSR web site from the Distance Learning link which you can find on our Training and Educational Opportunities page.
