The Medical Library Association’s educational webcast, “Web 2.0 Principles and Best Practices: Discovering the Participatory Web,” was a great success! We even had participation from our Region in the webcast! Andrea Lynch, from the UCLA Louise M. Darling Biomedical Library, was one of the guest speakers who was prerecorded. Behind the scenes, both Rikke Ogawa, also from the UCLA Louise M. Darling Biomedical Library, and Marie Kennedy, from the University of Southern California Norris Medical Library, serve on the MLA Social Networking Software Task Force with Bart Ragon, who was one of the main speakers.

As a follow-up to the event, Sharon Dennis, NN/LM PSR Technology Coordinator, posted a message about the webcast on the NN/LM PSR Social Networking Site as a forum for discussion. David Rothman, author of http://davidrothman.net, who was another presenter during the webcast, has now joined our social networking site and is now available for chat with any of our members who have chat capability. If you have not signed up for this site, you can request an invitation from Julie Kwan, Sharon Dennis, or Marco Tamase.

We will be receiving a copy of the MLA webcast on DVD and VHS. You can request a loan from NN/LM PSR’s web site at the Lending Library page. We will send out a message when the items are available for loan. For more information about the webcast itself, please go to the MLA website.
