Pat Auflick, Outreach Services Librarian at the Arizona Health Sciences Library of the University of Arizona in Tucson, will receive this year’s Rosenzweig Distinguished Service Award from the Arizona Library Association. The award is given to someone whose accomplishments and leadership have had a significant impact on Arizona libraries or librarians over the last 10 years. Pat was recognized for her work to improve “access to health information for Arizona’s health care providers, patients, consumers, and librarians. She has worked to bridge the gap between several professional communities who strive to support the health of the people of Arizona.” Pat will receive her award at the AZLA Awards Luncheon at the annual conference on October 13th, 2005. All of us in the Regional Network Office are proud of this recognition of Pat’s work!

Two Network members have recently signed agreements to conduct Express Outreach Award projects from August 2005 through March 2006. (more…)
Three Network members have signed agreements with PSRML to conduct Express Outreach Award projects in 2005. The successful applicants were: Craig Haynes, UCSD Medical Center Library; Naomi Broering, Pacific College of Oriental Medicine; and Rebecca Davis, UCD Medical Center Library. The twelve-month projects received $5,000 to $6,000 in funding. The projects strive to improve access to health information for health professionals and health consumers and to promote the awareness and use of products and services available from the NLM and the NN/LM. Target groups include urban populations, medically underserved communities, and minority and immigrant populations.
Anna Habetler began working at the Kaiser San Diego Library at the end of November 2004. We are delighted to have her in this position. She replaced Sheila Latus who retired at the end of December. Thanks Sheila for your contributions over the years!
Barbara Nicholson joined the National Library of Medicine staff on January 24 as the Technology Librarian in the National Network Office. Barbara will assume responsibilities related to DOCLINE and all Internet and technology support and will work closely with staff in all of the regional offices. Barbara was previously the Medical Librarian for the Medical Library for the Veterans Affairs Northern California Health Care System, which encompasses an inpatient facility, Sacramento VA Medical Center at Mather and 7 outpatient sites. Congratulations to Barbara!
