NLM’s MedlinePlus Connect Receives the HHSinnovates Award
On March 31, 2011, HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius announced the winners of Round 2 of the HHSinnovates contest, a program celebrating innovation by employees of HHS. NLM’s MedlinePlus Connect and five other teams were selected as the winners from a pool of nearly 90 applicants.
The team from the National Library of Medicine offered an important HIT application — a new function of its widely-used MedlinePlus information service. MedlinePlus Connect enables consumers to connect instantly from their electronic health record (EHR) to comprehensive information at MedlinePlus about a health condition or treatment of concern. It even helps health care providers meet one of the Meaningful Use objectives for earning incentive payments as they deploy EHRs.
Congratulations to the NLM honorees: Joyce Backus, Stephanie Dennis, Sarena Burgess, Naomi Miller, Joe Potvin, and from Columbia University, Maxine Rockoff!
