New Test DOCLINE System on NLM Web

An excellent reference for the new test DOCLINE system is the New DOCLINE ®-System web page at http://www.nlm.nih.gov/psd/cas/newdocline.html. This web site provides current DOCLINE users with information regarding where the new system can be accessed, the implementation schedule of the new system, the DOCLINE-L Listserv, system requirements, and more.

Here is a quick reference list for the new test DOCLINE system:

  • The release date is late spring 2000. Once we know a specific date, we will post it to the Regional listserv.
  • Please update your library's DOCUSER record, which includes the routing table. As stated above, your library's information in the DOCUSER module of the new system will be used once the new DOCLINE system is in production.
  • What is "real" and "test only":
    • REAL - Changes to library contacts and services, and routing tables (anything in the DOCUSER menu). These changes will be implemented upon new DOCLINE release.
    • TEST ONLY - Request functions (Borrow, Lend, Receipt, Reports, and Status/Cancel) and related messages.
  • Requests in the test DOCLINE system are for PRACTICE ONLY. Please DO NOT actually fill them or generate invoices. Please DO practice filling sample requests, rejecting them, etc., in order to get used to the system.
  • Loansome Doc Providers - Loansome Doc requests in the new test DOCLINE system are being copied from the current system so you may see some familiar requests. These test copies of actual requests should not be filled (you can practice with them).
  • Please send suggestions and comments about the new test DOCLINE system to newdocline@nlm.nih.gov.
  • For the latest on DOCLINE features and functionality, click the System Status link on the New DOCLINE System web page or, if you're logged in to the new DOCLINE, click System Status on the sidebar menu.

If you have any questions, suggestions, or comments you would like to send PSRML, please send an email to psr-nnlm@library.ucla.edu or give us a call at (800) 338-7567.
