Question: I found the perfect article in PubMed, but it is in German. How can I get it translated into English?
Answer
Here are some avenues to investigate for translating articles into English:
- Your institution may have a translation service available to you; if not, they may have a verbal interpreting service that might be able to refer to an organization that does.
- There is an association, American Translators Association (http://www.atanet.org/) that will assist you in locating an individual or company to translate and/or interpret an article.
- Sometimes there is luck in contacting a local university - specifically the language department to see if they have referrals to people who work with the specific language and particular subject of the article.
- And, there is always the Yellow Pages.

A new resource was recently added to our Web site that lists the DOCLINE Library Groups in the Pacific Southwest Region, those that are nationwide, and some that are international. It contains the full name of the group, area of coverage, group abbreviation, and, for some library groups, links to a Web page for more information. At the moment, there are 31 library groups in the Pacific Southwest Region. This resource is located at: http://nnlm.gov/psr/docline/library_groups.html.
