Check a Catalog Before You Send that Request!Best Practices for Book Requests in DOCLINEDo you want to improve the book, audiovisual, and non-NLM serial items borrowing for your library's users? PSRML recommends the following practice: Before placing a DOCLINE request for a monograph, check the online catalog of the library(ies) in your Monograph, Audiovisual, or Non-NLM Serial items (M/A/N) map. You will find a link to the online public access catalog (OPAC) of all Pacific Southwest Region resource libraries in their DOCLINE institutional records (also refer to the list below) under the Home Pages heading. Then, you can remove the other libraries in your M/A/N map so that the request will only route to libraries that can actually fill your request. The request will then route to the National Library of Medicine (NLM) unless you deselect the checkbox next to Route to NLM. You can use the University of California's Melvyl catalog to search all UC campuses at the same time. The URL for Melvyl is not included in the institutional record so you might want to bookmark it. You will find Melvyl at: http://melvyl.cdlib.org. Please call Julie or Andrea at 800-338-7657 if you have any questions or need any assistance! Links to Resource Library CatalogsBelow are the Resource Libraries in the Pacific Southwest Region with links to their online public access catalog (OPAC) for the specific library or a link to the OPAC for all libraries on the campus and/or affiliated with the institution. Please use these links to facilitate routing DOCLINE requests for books, audiovisuals, and non-NLM serial items.
