Major Outreach Award for Glendale Public Library, Glendale, AZGlendale Public Library, Glendale, AZ, has been awarded $25,000 to conduct Operation Health Outreach, which will be conducted over the twelve month period from January 1, 2004 to December 31, 2005. The overall mission of Operation Health Outreach is to improve access to health information to the major non-English speaking minority group, the Hispanic population, in Glendale, Arizona, by providing health information in Spanish, the identified native language. Specific goals and objectives of Operation Health Outreach include:
Operation Health Outreach will involve a number of sponsors and collaborating organizations:
Additional partnering groups include Hispanic community organizations such as the Arizona Hispanic School Administrators Association, the Arizona Hispanic Community Forum, and the Arizona Latino Media Association. The project will also involve Hispanic churches in the Glendale vicinity. Through Operation Health Outreach, Glendale Public Library will address the need to boost library collections, programs, and community networks in order to offer quality service to its Hispanic clientele.
