PSRML Staff Update

New Director

Judy ConsalesWe are delighted to announce that Judy Consales has been appointed as the new Director of the Louise Darling Biomedical Library. Judy took over as head of the library effective November 1, 2003. She has served as Interim Director of the Biomedical Library since July 1, 2002. She was appointed to this position when former Director Alison Bunting was named Interim University Librarian. Prior to this temporary appointment, Judy has served as Deputy Director of the Biomedical Library since 1999. Her experience in medical libraries spans 27 years and includes experience as a hospital medical librarian and also as a trainer and account representative for information providers. In addition, she headed reference at the New York Academy of Medicine Library for four years and has worked in several capacities for the Pacific Southwest Regional Medical Library (PSRML). In her role as Director of the Biomedical Library, Judy will serve as the Principal Investigator and Director for the PSRML.

Judy is a well-respected leader in medical libraries. She was one of five individuals nationally selected for the prestigious National Library of Medicine/American Association of Health Sciences Libraries (NLM/AAHSL) Leadership Fellows Program this year. She is an active member of the Medical Library Association.

New Administrative Assistant

Jeanneth QuevedoJeanneth Quevedo transferred to PSRML from the Administrative Office of UCLA's Louise M. Darling Biomedical Library on November 19, 2003. As Administrative Assistant for PSRML, Jeanneth will be triaging PSRML inquiries, assisting Karen Ricard with a variety of office functions, and providing support for PSRML's outreach program. Jeanneth, who has a degree in accounting, has worked at the Biomedical Library for the past 12 years; she has worked at UCLA since 1984. Jeanneth is a native of Ecuador and has three children. She continues to be very active in community service programs and currently spends her Saturdays providing religious instruction at her church. In the future, she hopes to serve as a Peace Corps volunteer. Give us a call and join us in welcoming Jeanneth!
