The Campaign for America's Libraries: Is This for You?Are you interesting in new ways to promote your library? You may have seen examples of @ your library®, the Campaign for America's Libraries, in public libraries or in the news. Launched in April 2001, @ your library® is the American Library Association's 'multi-year public education campaign designed to showcase the value of public, school, academic and special libraries and librarians in the 21st century.' @ your library® in the Pacific Southwest Region
New Trademark Use Policy@ your library® is now a registered trademark of the American Library Association (since May 2003). ALA makes the logo available on its web site for free downloading by libraries participating in the campaign. ALA has authorized libraries, state library agencies, state library associations, and other library organizations to use the Campaign logos under certain conditions - that they be used with the correct logo, color, and wording and with certain restrictions on using the logo on items for sale. These guidelines are available on the ALA trademark use policy page. When you use these downloaded logos, you are assured of using the correct fonts, colors, and wording. If you are planning to use the logos, please read this page carefully so that you can comply with the guidelines. Here are some samples of logos you can download:
Multilingual logosYou can now download the @ your library® logo in several formats and in nineteen languages, with more on the way. Currently, you can get the logo in: English, Arabic, French, Russian, Spanish, Vietnamese, Chinese, German, Icelandic, Italian, Turkish, Japanese, Kazakh, Korean, Azeri, Bulgarian, Georgian, Armenian, Romanian, Serbian (Cyrillic), Serbian (Latin), and Portuguese. @ your library® for Academic and Research LibrariesALA and the Association of College and Research Libraries (ACRL) have developed a new brochure, @ your library® Toolkit for Academic and Research Libraries, and added a new section for academic and research libraries on the Campaign web site. Other new resources include: case histories, slogans designed for academic and research libraries, a new ACADEMICPR discussion list, and brief descriptions of marketing activities of academic and research libraries. Make ConnectionsYou can find out about some of the participating libraries by searching a database on the Campaign web site. Go to Participation @ your library and search by state. There aren't very many libraries who have signed up, but you might find a few in your area that are listed. Maybe it's time to get acquainted with some new friends!
