Pinterest is definitely the hot new social media tool. I'm interested in public libraries; Googling "public library Pinterest" brings up a whole bunch of public library Pinterest sites, and PLA's "Public Libraries" magazine just did a feature on the tool too (http://www.publiclibrariesonline.org/exclusives/internet_spotlight/share-and-share-alike-building-social-collections-pinterest).

It looks like Pinterest's look and feel is having an effect on how websites are modeled, too. Check out the website for Lincoln Center, which I just stumbled across today: http://lc.lincolncenter.org/

Seems like a good way for libraries to curate a visually attractive online space (without being too time consuming).

The Newton Public Library board has some great ideas -- I like the "If You Liked the Hunger Games Try These..." And the "Crafts" and "Art Ideas" could really promote the idea of a library as makerspace where creativity is developed and shared. Love the Burlington board's "Learn Computers For Free" too.

What a helpful collection of links to intrepid libraries doing really compelling stuff with Pinterest. I'm a fan of anything that helps us get our amazing hidden content from libraries into the hands of more people. I appreciate the practical introduction.

Thanks for the clear explanation! Great to see what libraries are doing with this site I've heard so much about. I particularly like the use of boards to display covers for new acquisitions, like DVDs and books. What a neat idea!

I'm sure that soon enough anyone will be able to join Pinterest without an invite code...it seems that's the way all these social networking sites start, with that aura of exclusivity, but they want more users after a while!
