University of Massachusetts Medical School in Worcester is hosting the MLA Webcast "Survival Tips and Stories: Expanding the Library's Services in Times of Disaster".

Description of Webcast:

The goal of this program is to provide a basic understanding of disaster planning and service continuity, assess the effect of disaster on health sciences library services, and provide a basic template for disaster planning.

• understand the basics of service continuity
• recognize other services the library can offer in the event of a disaster
• understand the importance of risk assessment for your geographic area
• introduce the importance of buddy or backup libraries
• identify the public health aspects of a disaster and its impact on information services
