Pubmed Particulars If you've been searching in PubMed lately and if you practice safe searching (checking that Details box), you'll already be well aware of some changes that have been made to the Automatic Term Mapping function in PubMed. Some of these changes will have more of an impact on searching than others. It's nice that PubMed now will automatically map more British spellings than it did before, but that may not be the sort of thing that will keep you up at night. The addition of Publication Types to Automatic Term Mapping and the changes in phrase searching will probably be more noticeable. Please see the Technical Bulletin Articles for additional information about these changes. And PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE read the one about phrase searching very carefully!
Cubby Alert! If you have searches saved in your Cubby, you may want to check them in light of the above information. It is possible that a search was saved that worked very well before but now gives odd results due to the changes Automatic Term Mapping. If this is the case, the search will have to be modified. Searches stored in the Cubby cannot be edited but they can be revised.
