River Valley project featured in JCHI
The River Valley Healthy Community Coalitions health information outreach project is highlighted in the Journal of Conumer Health on the Internet. Sabrina Kurtz-Rossi and Patty Duguay led this important project to reach youth in the rural county of Oxford, Maine. The project included assessment of health information needs in Oxford County, development of a health information literacy curriculum for students, and a series of training sessions at local schools. The Health Information and the Internet: Who Can You Trust? Curriculum Sourcebook is available at: http://www.rvhcc.org/pdf/HIL_Sourcebook.pdf
Each session included a pre and post test. Results of the project’s kick-off showed that all participants agreed or strongly agreed they felt more confident in their ability to use MedlinePlus. The article in JCHI includes sample questions from the pre and post evaluations.
