March 2007: Keith Cogdill, Outreach Librarian at the NLM National Network Office and Betsy Kelly, Assessment and Evaluation Liaison. Wondering how you can enhance the communication of your library's contributions to your larger organization? On the heels of MLA's "Survival of Fittest" broadcast, Keith Cogdill, Outreach Librarian at the NLM National Network Office and Betsy Kelly, Assessment and Evaluation Liaison for the MidContinental Region, explored this important issue. February 2007: Technology and Education

February 2007: Sharon Dennis, Technology Coordinator and Marty Magee, Education Liaison. Sharon discussed several "Web 2.0" online services that you can easily customize for your web page or blog: MeeboMe, an web-based chat program for communicating with patrons or colleagues; Google Calendar, a service that lets you publish events on your website; and Google Custom Search Engine, a tool for creating specialized search engines to meet the needs of your patrons. Marty introduced the training resources from the NTCC Educational Clearinghouse, the screen capture tool SnagIt, and a new training resource for public librarians available on CD-ROM. January 2007: Funding Discussion with Claire Hamasu and Siobhan Champ-Blackwell

January 2007: Claire Hamasu, Associate Director and Siobhan Champ-Blackwell, Community Outreach Liaison. Claire and Siobhan talked about funding for libraries, sources that will help develop projects, and the assistance that the RML can provide. Siobhan's funding handout is also available (Microsoft Word format).

November 2006: Network Member and Consumer Health

November 2006: John Bramble, Network Member Liaison and Dana Abbey, Consumer Health Liaison. Note: Speakers are still audible, but there is some background noise on the recording. Dana explained some of NLM's newer consumer health resources (Household Products Database, Genetics Home Reference and others) and why users will find them valuable. John oriented members to the Network Membership services web page and gave an update on the Regional Licensing Consortium, the release of DOCLINE 3.0, and some of the new features in LinkOut.

October 2006: Technology and Assessment and Evaluation

October 2006: Sharon Dennis, Technology Coordinator and Betsy Kelly, Assessment and Evaluation Liaison. Sharon talked about two important components of "Web 2.0": social networking and web services. She briefly demonstrated a few examples to get you started as you think about how you can incorporate Web 2.0 into your library. Betsy reviewed and compared the region's libraries that were captured in Network Data Inventory reports of 2002 and 2005, and asked how the MCR can meet your needs.

July 2006: Health Information Environment Trends and MedlinePlus

July 2006: Wayne Peay, Director, and Dana Abbey, Consumer Health Liaison. Wayne talked about his view of the health information environment ahead of us. Dana reviewed all the new MedlinePlus additions and changes.

June 2006: Highlights of the Current Contract and Network Membership Update

June 2006: Claire Hamasu, Associate Director and John Bramble, Network Member Liaison. Claire covered highlights of 2006-2011 RML contract. John alerted members to the upcoming Network membership renewal, introduced resources on the newly organized web site, and provided an update on the Regional Licensing Consortium.
