Technology: Video Services: Skype and Festoon Instructions
These instructions assume that you have a headset with microphone and a Webcam, and have already installed both on your computer.

Installing Skype
- Download Skype from the Skype website.
- Install Skype; during the installation process, you will be asked to create an account. Your username is the name you will give to other people to contact you.
- Test Skype: Use the Echo123 service to test your microphone and headset. Follow the instructions on the Skype website to do this.
Installing Festoon
- Download Festoon from the Festoon website.
- Install Festoon: before installing Festoon, close Skype. Once Festoon is installed, re-open Skype. You will see a large orange "V" in your version of Skype as well as the orange Festoon icon in your system tray.
- Running Festoon: when you launch Festoon for the first time, you will see a warning dialog from Skype asking you if you want to allow another program to use Skype. Select "Allow this program to use Skype" so that Festoon will work properly.
- Test Festoon: You can check your video by clicking on the Festoon icon in the system tray and selecting "Make a Test Call".
Videoconferencing Etiquette
- Leader will acknowledge each participant by a role call to start
- Mute your unit when you are not talking
- Use patience - wait to talk
- When you are ready to speak:
- Unmute your system
- Make your contribution
- Mute your system when you are finished
- Remember that you are on camera and all
participants can see you when you are speaking
- Look into the camera when talking
