Links to LinkOut Resources
How many links could a librarian LinkOut if a librarian could LinkOut links?
NCBI
LinkOut Information @
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/linkout/doc/liblinkout.html
Start at the source: with the NCBI LinkOut information for Libraries.
You can also reach this information through the LinkOut link
in the PubMed sidebar.
NN/LM
LinkOut Guide @ http://nnlm.gov/libinfo/ejournals/linkout/
You can also check out the the NN/LM LinkOut Guide. Developed by National
Network of Libraries of Medicine staff, it provides clear background information
and describes how the entire LinkOut process should work.
LinkOut Resources from the NTCC Educational Clearinghouse Database @ http://nnlm.gov/ntcc/
You can find links to all the LinkOut tutorials and trainings that are posted in the NTCC Educational Clearinghouse Database to help you become more profitient in your LinkOut skills.
MCR
LinkOut Libraries @ http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/journals/active_libraries.html#MR
More and more MidContinental Region libraries are taking advantage of
LinkOut! This link will take you to a list of currently participating
libraries.
LinkOut
at the US Naval Hospital, Guam @ http://www.nnlm.nlm.nih.gov/psr/lat/v10n5/linkout.html
This article, written by Alice Hadley, is a little older, but it gives
a good feel for how participating in LinkOut can benefit a smaller library.
Give
LinkOut a try! @ http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/query.fcgi?otool=uutahlib
Follow this link to see how a real library's LinkOut holdings look (in
this case, the University of Kansas Medical Center). Do a search, and
then switch to abstract or citation view to see the KUMed holdings. The
blue full-text buttons will probably not take you to the full text, because
our access is IP-restricted, but you can see what the buttons look like.
If you click on a red link, it shows you the print holdings for the title
in question.
This is a cookie-activated item, just like the clipboard, so you will continue to see KUMed buttons until you have had no PubMed activity for an extended period of time (i.e., more than one hour).
MCR
Button Farm @ http://nnlm.gov/mcr/technology/linkout.html
As a service to our members, the MidContinental Region will make and host
your LinkOut buttons. This page provides more information and lets you
see the buttons already created and placed.
