Webinar: Ambulance Riding Librarian

The April Disaster Information Specialist webinar will be held Thursday, April 11, 2013. The meeting is open to anyone wishing to attend. The topic is “The Ambulance-Riding Librarian: How Embedded Informationists Help the Responder Community,” featuring Kacy Allgood. She was a very popular presenter at the recent Disaster Communication Summit!  In 2012, Kacy Allgood was awarded the Sewell Fellowship for embedded librarians. She currently provides information services to Indianapolis EMS (the largest 911 ambulance service in Indianapolis), the Indiana University Department of Emergency Medicine, MESH (a disaster preparedness coalition), and Indiana Emergency Medical Services for Children. All of these agencies collaborate to provide evidence based pre-hospital care for Indianapolis. Join in her adventures as an ambulance riding librarian and learn how information specialists can contribute to EMS!

EHR Page Now Available on the MCR Website

We’ve added a new page about Electronic Health Records (EHRs) to our MCR homepage. You will find an introduction to EHRs, links to meaningful use definitions and standards, and resources for how health sciences librarians can become involved in EHRs. We hope these resources will raise awareness and knowledge of how electronic health records relate to clinical care and patient decision-making and encourage librarians to be involved with incorporating health information resources, such as MedlinePlus Connect, into the electronic health record.
