What do You Want: Library management workshops Question #1

We’re planning a series of workshops with Pat Wagner, instructor and consultant extraordinaire, and want member input on content and format. The sessions will be online using Adobe Connect with an online discussion space, still to be decided.

Question 1. If all the stars in alignment, what class(es) will you sign up for? AND What topics do you want covered in the class(es) you select?

a. Marketing as if Your Library Depended on it

b. Improving the Effectiveness of Your Print Media (incl writing from customer view point and graphics)

c. Institutional Politics – Earning Trust and Respect with Your Peers and Executives

d. Tweaking Your Strategic Plan

e. What do Your Customers Want and How do you Win their Political and Financial Support?

    All the topics would be useful but my top choices are :

    a. Marketing as if Your Library Depended on it

    b. Improving the Effectiveness of Your Print Media (incl writing from customer view point and graphics)

    c. Institutional Politics – Earning Trust and Respect with Your Peers and Executives

    Also, it would be fantastic if MLA CEUs could be given for these workshop.

    D. Tweaking your strategic plan. To include useful ways to brainstorm and get feedback that are positive (not just a bunch of complaining)
    E. What your Customers Want and How do you Win their Support. To include how to communicate well with users, how to get their attention, how to be brief but also accurate, etc.

    I would prefer the first two classes because at my library I’m a member of the marketing committee, and we are starting a campaign to brand our library. Information regarding marketing skills and branding would be very helpful to us during this process.
