Congratulations to Amanda Sprochi from the J. Otto Lottes Health Sciences Library and  Cam Gentry from Via Christi Library. They applied for and were selected to attend MLA’s disaster preparedness courses in Seattle:  Response to Disasters and Public Health Emergencies  and Information Roles in Disaster Preparedness, Response, Recovery.  The classes will be held on May 24, 2012 immediately after MLA. These courses are being presented as part of MLA’s Disaster Information Specialization initiative. We’ll look forward to hearing back from Amanda and Cam on how the sessions went and what they learned.  /ch

The Chichester duPont Foundation  invites grant applicants from anywhere within the United States to apply for the Clark Fund. It devotes particular emphasis to programs concerned with the environment, education, health care and social services and to which the Foundation’s giving will play a pivotal role. Reviews occur during the fall, so there’s time to write a well developed proposal. Funding is capped at $100,000 altho’ most projects are in the $20-30,000 range.  Only organizations tax-exempt under section 501 (c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code are eligible to apply.
