Evaluation Criteria: Why?

Why was this website created? Is it to sell a product? Or to provide educational material?!

  • Non-profit agencies often use websites to provide health information, a calendar of events, and to raise money for their group
  • Ccompanies that manufacture or sell health care related products often create websites with health information that ties in with the products they are selling. Be careful! While the information they present is not incorrect, it is often not complete since it focuses only on one aspect of the health topic.
  • Sometimes, people create health related websites because they want to share their expreriences. As long as they say this up front, these can be good support tools.
  • Take a look at the way the "URL" or the web site address ends. This is the "domain name" and those last letters give you a big clue about the purpose of this web site.
