SaludToday
The Redes En Acción research team has unveiled a new Latino health Web site and blog, SaludToday, to promote healthier lifestyles among Latinos. SaludToday is an interactive, online forum dedicated to stimulating an ongoing discussion among Latino families, community leaders, health researchers and others. By 2050, it is estimated that about one in every three peo-ple in the U.S. will be Latino. Yet Latinos suffer greatly from health disparities – differences in the burden of certain diseases and health conditions compared to non-Hispanic whites. Latinos tend to have less income, education, access to health care and insurance coverage, placing them at a greater disadvantage when it comes to being in good health. The SaludToday site is backed by the Redes En Acción research team and presents stories, current news and events of interest. WEAVING Project
Through the WEAVING Project, the Urban Indian Health Institute (UIHI) provides technical assistance to urban Indian health organizations (UIHO) and state Breast and Cervical Cancer Early Detection Programs (BCCEDP) to support and increase breast and cervical cancer screening among urban American Indian and Alaska Native women. In addition to working directly with UIHO and BCCEDP, the WEAVING Project provides online community outreach and educational resources.
