The National Network of Libraries of Medicine Middle (NN/LM ) Middle Atlantic Region (MAR) announces the availability of Small Project Awards for NN/LM MAR Full and Affiliate Network Members.

Purpose

The purpose of the Small Project Award is to provide support for full and affiliate members to promote library services. The Small Prject Award program creates opportunities for NN/LM Full Network member libraries to enhance their services and provide seed money for ongoing or one-time projects through the purchase of displays, brochures, presentations, materials, equipment, supplies, or presentation of small programs.
Examples of small project award-eligible activities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  1. Support outreach programs to special target populations.
  2. Evaluate outreach and education efforts related to community based organizations (CBOs), unaffiliated health professionals in inner cities and rural areas, reaching minorities, senior citizens, and low income populations that show early signs of success, and identify best practices.
  3. Develop comprehensive materials describing the availability of community-based supports, building on existing information and in the light of the above review of successful outreach and education strategies.
  4. Mount demonstration projects showing ways to ensure effective systems access in ways responsive to local community ways and needs.
  5. Conduct a study of pertinent findings from local projects and providing feedback on regional and NLM programs.

Up to $1000 is available. Funds cannot be used for food or furniture; and no more than 5% of budget can be used for print and electronic materials. Any equipment to be purchased must be submitted with catalog pricing.
