DOCLINE Ending Support for Internet Explorer 7

Monday, November 4th, 2013

This is a reminder that DOCLINE will be ending support for Internet Explorer 7 (IE 7) as of November 30, 2013.  We understand the challenges of different browser version requirements from multiple systems in library environments but NLM must move forward with current browser standards.  Microsoft will end support for Windows XP and IE 7 as of April 2014.

DOCLINE may continue to work with IE 7, however, NLM staff will not test new versions of DOCLINE or Loansome Doc with it, nor will we fix any future issues that are identified as being present only in IE7.  Libraries should begin talking to their local IT departments about upgrading their browsers to at least Internet Explorer 9.

Users upgrading their browsers or using a new PC should modify their browser settings for use with DOCLINE.  See http://www.nlm.nih.gov/docline/system_requirements.html#browser

Dear Network Members:
The NN/LM Middle Atlantic Region (NN/LM MAR) Regional Medical Library is extending an invitation for all network members to provide feedback about the strengths of our program and future directions we should take.  This feedback will help us prepare for an upcoming site review from the National Library of Medicine (NLM) on November 19, 2013.The goal of the site review is to:

  • help NN/LM MAR and NLM understand how the Regional Medical Library is serving its network membership
  • learn how NN/LM MAR can strengthen its program to meet current and emerging needs in the region, and
  • gather ideas for how NLM can support the national network

To provide feedback, please click on the link below.  You can answer as many questions as you want and/or provide other comments:  https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/mar-review.

The responses from this questionnaire will be provided unedited (but without names attached) to those involved in the site review, specifically the site review team along with staff from NN/LM MAR and NLM.  These responses may also be included in the site team’s written report, which is made available to NN/LM MAR staff.  NN/LM MAR in turn, may decide to share the site review report with advisors or advisory groups such as our Regional Advisory Committee.

Your responses are very important to us.  So please take a few moments to send your feedback!  We will be collecting feedback through October 18, 2013.

Share Your Story and Win a Trip to MLA 2014 in Chicago!

Saturday, October 12th, 2013

October is National Medical Librarians Month!  Share Your Story and Win a Trip to MLA 2014 in Chicago!

Are you doing something to highlight your services and contributions to research, education and improved patient outcomes?  Perhaps you are promoting the importance of understandable health information as part of Health Literacy Month?  Or, maybe you have presented results from the Value Study to your stakeholders?

We invite you to share stories (and photos) that reflect how you are taking an active role in promoting the value of medical librarian contributions to your library, institution and/or community.  MAR will be collecting these stories and highlighting them on our website throughout October.

Anyone submitting a story before Oct. 31st will be entered into a random drawing to receive an award to cover registration and airfare to MLA 2014.  Multiple entries may be received from the same library, but only ONE entry per person. Send all stories and photos to nnlmmar@pitt.edu.

Be sure to check out MLA’s promotional items and resources to market library services and value at:
