Job Ad: Education and Liaison Librarian, Hempstead, NY
The Hofstra North Shore-LIJ School of Medicine Library seeks a qualified candidate for the position of Education and Liaison Librarian. Please share this information with interested staff and colleagues.
Reporting to the Associate Dean for Library Services, the Education and Liaison Librarian will have primary responsibility for the information literacy skills program of the medical school including curriculum sessions, online tutorials, and consultation services. The successful candidate will collaborate with faculty and other staff to assess information literacy skills, design Clinical Epidemiology/EBM content, and ensure seamless access to readings via the learning management system. S/he will provide reference and liaison services, conduct expert literature searches, develop content for the library website using LibGuides, support medical education research projects, liaison with health related programs on the Hofstra campus as well as targeted departments at the North Shore-LIJ Health System, and evaluate the collection and electronic resources. S/he will participate in scholarly activities and grant funded library projects.
Education and Experience Requirements:
Graduate library/information science degree from an ALA-accredited institution, or equivalent, and a minimum of two years of library experience. Demonstrated expertise in searching the biomedical literature and resources for evidence based practice. Demonstrated expertise in development of online instructional materials and providing instruction. Expertise with web content tools for enhancing information literacy and library outreach. Flexibility and interest in working collaboratively with faculty, students, and staff in a customer focused environment. Excellent oral and written communication skills as well as presentation skills.
