Disaster Info Specialist Program Meeting: Red Cross Digital Operations Center

The June Disaster Information Specialist Adobe Connect session will be Thursday, June 14, 2012 at 1:30 PM ET. See connection information below.
Our guest speaker will be Wendy Harman, Social Media Manager at the American Red Cross. Wendy will be speaking about the Red Cross Digital Operations Center which recently was launched to monitor and respond to social media during disaster situations. As part of this project, the Red Cross is planning to train “digital volunteers” to verify and curate the large volume of information generated on social media during a disaster. These volunteers will help build situational awareness, and respond online to questions from the public and distribute critical information.(Role for librarians?!)
