Award Report: Upgraded Workstations and Printer for Enhanced Library Patron Services — Matheny Medical and Educational Center
In October 2010, the Gretchen and James Johnson Medical Library at the Matheny Medical and Educational Center received a Technology Improvement Award from NN/LM MAR. In 2008, the library received a grant under the same program whereby it upgraded two computers out of four. The 2010 award allowed the library to upgrade the remaining two computers and purchase a printer capable of two-sided printing. The order for equipment was placed in December 2010, and installation was completed in late February 2011. The fast speed of the workstations has resulted in increased efficiency in staff work, which enables more people to use the library workstations each day. In fact, in March 2011, the library had the most visitors in its history. The workstations were also used for a staff e-mail training project. Paper usage has been reduced because of the duplex-printing function, and printing speed has increased. The Matheny Medical and Educational Center is a special school and hospital in Peapack, NJ, serving the healthcare and educational needs of children and adults with developmental disabilities.
