New TOXNET FAQ

NLM’s Division of Specialized Information Services (SIS) now offers a set of “Frequently Asked Questions” and answers (FAQ) for its TOXNET databases. For those new to TOXNET http://toxnet.nlm.nih.gov/toxnet_faq.html provides a good source of answers to questions that have already been asked. It can also be a resource for experienced TOXNET users.

The TOXNET FAQ addresses the following areas:

* Searching/Linking/Printing
* Finding and Managing Bibliographic References
* Obtaining TOXNET Data
* ChemIDplus
* Household Products Database
* Miscellaneous

NLM-AMPA all-day seminar in Philadelphia

Funding Opportunity–Academic Partners Public Health Training Grant

CDC’s Procurement and Grants Office has published a request for application, “Academic Partners Public Health Training Grant” at http://www.cdc.gov/od/pgo/funding/grantmain.htm The purpose of the
program is to:

(a) provide trainees the opportunity to learn about broad, cross-cutting public health policy and program development at the Federal, state, and local government level; and
(b) make progress toward achieving the prevention objectives of “Healthy People 2010.”

PubMed Manuals Updated, Ready for Download

Recently updated editions of the PubMed, NLM Gateway, and ClinicalTrials.gov training workbooks are now available for downloading from http://www.nlm.nih.gov/pubs/web_based.html Both workbooks were updated to reflect changes since January 2004. Please note that the PubMed workbook includes the most recent significant changes to PubMed, including My NCBI.

The manuals are available for downloading in PDF and Microsoft Word formats. They are broken down into sections so you can choose the areas of interest to you. These materials correspond to the NLM’s National Training Center and Clearinghouse training courses described at http://nnlm.gov/mar/online/description.html
