This pathfinder provides the opportunity to:

  • Learn how to find definitions of medical terms.
  • Recognize how many medical terms look alike and sound alike but mean something very different.
  • Use the technique of reversing terms in order to find definitions.
  • Learn the concepts of synonyms and broad terms.
Author's Note: Check the spelling of terms if the client is unsure or you are unfamiliar with them. It is important to ask clients to decide which term(s) is applicable. If clients are uncertain, it's always a good idea to suggest that they contact their health care provider for the correct spelling. You can point out to them that without the correct spelling, incorrect and/or harmful information might be dispensed.
