Training and Educational Opportunities

A variety of educational options are available through the National Library of Medicine (NLM), the National Network of Libraries of Medicine (NN/LM) and by the staff of the NN/LM Greater Midwest Region (GMR).

Classes

• View Training Opportunities and register for open NN/LM and GMR Classes
• Classes Offered Through the GMR Office may be scheduled with a GMR instructor
• Additional NN/LM, NLM, and MLA educational opportunities
  • National Library of Medicine Training Center (NTC) offers scheduled classes in: PubMed®, TOXNET®, and UMLS®;
    their Class Schedule lists courses by regional location
  • Workshops from the OERC provides courses and materials on evaluation and are offered through the NN/LM Outreach Evaluation Resource Center (OERC)
  • NN/LM Moodle lists available online courses using Moodle
  • MLA Educational Clearinghouse includes courses approved by the Medical Library Association (MLA); Use the advanced search and choose 'RML Offerings' from the CE Activity/Resource search criteria for NN/LM courses and materials
  • NLM Training & Outreach programs includes the Associate Fellowship Program for Librarians and the Medical Informatics Training Program.
  • Genetics: NCBI Educational Resources of National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) includes workshops and tutorials on the genetics databases
  • Public health education: Health Services Research & Public Health Information Programs provides courses and tutorials under Outreach and Training. Also visit the National Information Center on Health Services Research and Health Care Technology (NICHSR) Outreach and Training Activities in NICHSR

Teach for CE Credit

• You may provide Continuing Nursing Education by teaching courses in PubMed and/or on Health Websites.
• You may provide Continuing Pharmacy Education by teaching courses on Medical Websites, the Drug Information Portal and /or PubMed.
