The red or Norway pine (Pinus resinosa) became the official state tree in 1953. The state flower is the pink and white Lady's slipper (Cypridedium reginae). The state bird is the common loon (Gavia). Minnesota has many community colleges and universities, including the University of Minnesota Medical School and the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine. |
