Description: This project consists of the organization, promotion, and creation of a Community Preparedness Day. It will be an afternoon of educational sessions, informational booths, and the creation of family emergency plans with the help of dedicated computer terminals. Local emergency organization staff will be on hand to teach sessions, provide emergency and disaster organization information, and help community members create their plans. Participants will receive a basic emergency kit (while supplies last) and may enter a free raffle to win 1 of 10 NOAA weather radios. The partnership of community emergency organizations includes the Aurora Medical Center in Grafton, Ozaukee Co. Emergency Management, Ozaukee Dept. of Public Health, Columbia St. Mary’s Ozaukee County, and the Grafton Public Library. This event will help prepare Ozaukee County residents for the emergencies that can and do happen in Wisconsin. It will also provide an opportunity for the partner organizations to work together in a non-emergency situation, strengthening the partnership and providing an opportunity for increased visibility.
