New Full Text and PubMed Brochure

We’ve added a new brochure to the PubMed® pantheon! Like PubMed Basics, PubMed My NCBI and Searching PubMed with MeSH, Full Text and PubMed is a trifold brochure in pdf format which you are welcome to copy and print. Additionally, by downloading the brochure and opening it in Adobe Reader® , you will find you can add and save your own local library information in the box provided. TOXMAP’s New Version is Here

A new version of TOXMAP® (http://toxmap.nlm.nih.gov) was released this month. TOXMAP is a Geographic Information System (GIS) from the Division of Specialized Information Services (http://sis.nlm.nih.gov) of the U.S. National Library of Medicine (NLM) (http://www.nlm.nih.gov) that uses maps of the United States to help users visually explore data from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)’s Toxics Release Inventory and Superfund Program.

New and Improved PubMed/Entrez and New URL

According to the NLM Technical Bulletin for May-June, 2007, NCBI has started phasing in the new Entrez 2.0 system. In addition, the Web address has changed to the following URL:

From Ship to Shore: Tox Town’s New Port Scene

What do longshoremen, sunbathers, ship crews, and shrimp lovers have in common? Whether they live on the coast, work in a maritime industry or play on the beach, they can find information about the environment and how it might affect their health at Tox Town®’s new Port neighborhood. This imaginary port illustrates drinking water and air quality concerns along with wastewater treatment, shellfish safety, work hazards, sun and surf safety, aquaculture and many other topics. PubMed Changes Affect Searches in the New Year

There are a number of changes to PubMed® for 2007. These include modification of Type of Article under the Limits tab, significant changes in how OLDMEDLINE (articles before 1966) articles are handled, and changes to MeSH® headings and descriptors. Wonderfully, there are also two new search options - “print dates of publication” [ppdat] and “electronic dates of publication” [epdat] - which means newer articles can now be searched by the dates printed on the journal. DailyMed Debuts

DailyMed, http://dailymed.nlm.nih.gov/dailymed/about.cfm, provides high quality information about marketed drugs. This information includes FDA approved labels (package inserts). This Web site provides health information providers and the public with a standard, comprehensive, up-to-date, look-up and download resource of medication content and labeling as found in medication package inserts.
