61st Annual Wisconsin Student Nurses’ Association Conference, Wisconsin Dells
Wisconsin Health Sciences Library Association (WHSLA) exhibited at the annual Wisconsin Student Nurses’ Annual Convention on February 6, 2010, at Chula Vista Resort and Convention Center in Wisconsin Dells, WI. Two hundred sixty-five nursing students, faculty, and nursing leaders from across Wisconsin attended the meeting.
The WHLSA table included the large gray GMR display with screenshots of NLM online resources, an iPod Touch connected to the Internet for demonstrations of online resources (Mobile MedlinePlus), and several giveaways including NLM bookmarks, pens, and WHSLA brochures. Raffle prizes, including two Littman stethoscopes, donated by WHSLA, helped to generate enthusiasm and increase attendance at the booth.
In addition to other NLM resources, Mobile MedlinePlus as a vehicle for patient education was highlighted to booth visitors. While over one-fourth of these visitors had used MedlinePlus previously, most were unaware of the new mobile version of the site. Also highlighted were PubMed’s Free Full Text resources. Students were very grateful to hear of a stable source of free articles they can access now or after graduation.
This event was planned by the WHSLA Outreach Committee (Ulrike Dieterle-Ebling Library and Brenda Fay-Aurora Sinai Medical Center Library).
