Tutorial on Using UMLS Available
From the NLM:
“NLM is pleased to announce the debut of the Unified Medical Language System(r)
(UMLS(r)) Basics, a Web-based tutorial that enables anyone with Internet access to learn about the UMLS. You can reach the tutorial at http://www.nlm.nih.gov/research/umls/online%20learning/index.htm.
The course is also linked from the New Users’ Guide (http://www.nlm.nih.gov/research/umls/new_users.html) and other UMLS pages.
The course offers an online introduction to the UMLS and should take users approximately two hours to complete. It is designed for novice UMLS users who have some knowledge of controlled vocabularies and related topics.
It covers some of the material presented in the UMLS Basics one day course taught at the NLM. (For class times and to register for the eight hour instructor lead course: http://nnlm.gov/ntcc/classes/index.html#class7)
There is no charge for this class.
Additional courses, such as a tutorial on the use of MetamorphoSys, are already in the planning stage. The UMLS team encourages comments and suggestions for further topics.”
