The 5th Annual Asian-American Health and Cultural Fair, organized and presented by the United Asian-American Medical Student Association of the University of Michigan, was held in the lower level of Medical Science 2, the Building right next to Taubman Medical Library, on Saturday, February 2, 2008. The Health Sciences Libraries (HSL) participated in this community event by handing out literature about good consumer health resources, specifically MedlinePlus®. (more…)

59^th Annual Wisconsin Student Nursing Association Conference, Wisconsin Dells

The Wisconsin Health Sciences Library Association (WHSLA) again exhibited at the Wisconsin Student Nurses’ Annual Convention (WSNA), which was held this year on February 2, 2008, at the Kalahari Resort and Convention Center in Wisconsin Dells, WI. About 300 nursing students, faculty, and nursing leaders from across Wisconsin attended the meeting. (more…)

On Saturday, February 2, 2008, the University of Michigan Health Sciences Libraries took part in an annual community outreach event called Give Kids a Smile. Merle Rosenzweig, Nancy Allee, and Carol Shannon represented the Health Sciences Libraries at this activity, which was held at the University of Michigan Dental School. They sat at a table with colorful, child-appropriate handouts and a PowerPoint presentation on good oral hygiene couched in child-friendly language and accompanied by appealing cartoons. (more…)
