PubMed Changes Affect Searches in the New Year
There are a number of changes to PubMed® for 2007. These include modification of Type of Article under the Limits tab, significant changes in how OLDMEDLINE (articles before 1966) articles are handled, and changes to MeSH® headings and descriptors. Wonderfully, there are also two new search options - “print dates of publication” [ppdat] and “electronic dates of publication” [epdat] - which means newer articles can now be searched by the dates printed on the journal. This is a new option for 2007.
One of the consequences of these changes is that all My NCBI saved searches will need to be checked. My NCBI searches cannot be edited, so searches affected by these changes must be deleted and replacement searches saved, appropriately, out with the old and in with the new.
