At the UVA Health Sciences Library, the responsibility of writing and updating the disaster plan falls primarily in Susan’s position (our department’s project assistant). Keeping the disaster plan up-to-date is written into her performance plan and accounts for 30% of her time (she works a 20 hour week). Here’s the wording from her job description:
Reviews the manual on a quarterly basis, collecting and documenting any additions or changes. Maintains the Disaster Plan documentation on the Library’s server in order to keep it available to all Library staff. Proofreads all documents and distributes new or revised documents to all owners of a copy of the manual on a timely basis.
