Transgender Day of Remembrance

November 20 is Transgender Day of Remembrance, to honor those who lost their lives for being who they are. The Human Rights Campaign website has information to raise awareness and increase knowledge of transgender people, including employment resources and resources for families: http://bit.ly/1b6LTk4

The Centers for Disease Control has recommended including two variables relating to gender in data collection: the gender at  birth and the current gender identity. See the blog post by JoAnne Keatley, MSW, Director and Co-Principal Investigator, Center of Excellence for Transgender Health at the University of California San Francisco for more information on the importance of transgender people being counted and how to encourage it: http://bit.ly/1c07kAb
