Attention was focused on the OHSU librarians, hosts of the meeting. Jim Morgan and Steve Teich described recent OHSU endeavors, including the newly launched outreach project funded by an RML subcontract. The "Oregon Community Health Outreach Project" will be carried out by Margaret Connor and Steve Teich. They will train health professionals working with underserved and minority populations in the Hood River area to access electronic sources of clinical information and patient education material.
The RML has proposed to fund one resource library in each year of the contract in support of outreach endeavors. The first outreach subcontract was awarded to the University of Alaska Anchorage in 1996 to provide outreach services to 18 frontier health care facilities, most of which provide care to Alaska Natives.
Resource Library representatives also discussed possibilities for use of "Technology Forum" funding which the RML has offered to a Resource Library or Libraries for an educational program.
